TK Admissions Policy
Ross Bridges seeks students and families who are a great fit with our educational philosophy (progressive and constructivist) and its involved, diverse, and inclusive community. While our admission procedures and criteria vary according to the age of the students, the school’s main considerations during the admission process are whether the student will thrive in our program and whether the parents/guardians are seeking the type of educational community we have created at Ross Bridges. In addition, we keep in mind these factors: gender balance; student learning styles; racial/ethnic diversity; socioeconomic diversity; and family structure. The learning and social-emotional needs of current students also are considered.
We view each admission decision as a collective decision, involving input from faculty, learning specialists, and the Center’s Director. When there are more qualified candidates than openings available, the school establishes a waiting list. We seek to increase the diversity of our applicant pool at all levels to develop a student body that represents the racial, ethnic, cultural, religious, economic, and family diversity of the Bay Area. Ross Bridges admits students without reference to race, color, sex, religion, sexual orientation, national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, financial assistance grants, and school-administered programs. All students are encouraged to apply.
The application deadline for the school year for all preschool applicants is May 31. We will email admission decisions to all preschool candidates who have completed the application requirements by June 30. Applications completed after this deadline will be considered if there is room in the program. Preschool applicants must be 4 years old by August 31 and able to go to the bathroom on their own.
